Who we are
BirthdayLab is operated by Moving Data Systems, d.o.o., a company registered in Slovenia, EU. For the purposes of EU data-protection law, Moving Data Systems, d.o.o. is the data controller for this site. Contact for any privacy question or request is hello@birthdaylab.net or via the contact page.
What we collect today
Tool inputs are processed in your browser. Every calculator on this site — the Birthday Rarity Calculator, Age Calculator, Day of the Week Born, Leap Year, Generation Calculator, Birthday Countdown, Birthday Twins, and the Birthday Paradox simulator — runs as client-side JavaScript. The date or year you enter is computed in your browser and is never sent to or stored by our application.
When you press Calculate (or load a shared deep-link like ?d=08-15), the URL in your address bar updates so the result is shareable and reproducible. We don't capture that input on our application servers — there are no application servers that receive it.
Standard hosting logs. The site is served from Vercel. As with any web service, the hosting provider's standard HTTP request logs may record requested URLs (which can include the query parameters of a shared deep-link), along with timestamp, IP address, and user agent. These logs exist for operational and security purposes only — they are not joined to identity, not used for analytics, and not used for advertising.
No accounts, no logins, no submitted PII. We do not run user accounts, comment systems, or forms that store personal information. The only personal information that reaches us is what you choose to put in the body of an email when you write to the contact address above.
Cookies and similar technologies
At the moment, BirthdayLab does not set any first-party cookies and does not embed any third-party analytics or advertising scripts. The sections below describe the categories we plan to use at launch.
- Essential. None today. We do not use any cookies that would qualify as strictly necessary for the site to function.
- Analytics (planned). See "Analytics" below.
- Advertising (planned). See "Advertising" below.
Non-essential cookies will only fire after the visitor's consent in regions that require it (see the consent section).
Analytics (planned)
BirthdayLab will use Google Analytics 4 to understand site usage in aggregate. When analytics is enabled, GA4 will set cookies and collect device and browser information and approximate location derived from your IP address. This page will be updated to describe the live behaviour at that point, including the specific Google property and the retention period.
When analytics goes live, EU/EEA visitors will be asked for consent before any analytics cookie is set (see "Consent management" below).
Advertising (planned)
BirthdayLab will display ads through Google AdSense. When advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, will use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies will enable it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Information about how Google uses data from sites and apps that use its services is published at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can also opt out of many third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info.
Additional advertising partners (placeholder)
When Raptive becomes an additional advertising partner for BirthdayLab, this section will name Raptive and its advertising partners and link to Raptive's published privacy and consent resources. Until then, the disclosures in the "Advertising" section above cover all planned advertising activity.
Consent management
When we begin serving ads or analytics to visitors in the EU/EEA, a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) banner will let you accept or reject non-essential cookies and change your choice at any time. No banner is shown today because no non-essential cookies are currently set.
Your rights under the GDPR
Because Moving Data Systems, d.o.o. is established in the EU, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. You have the right to access information we hold about you, to request rectification or erasure, to object to processing, and to withdraw any consent you previously gave. You may exercise any of these rights by writing to hello@birthdaylab.net.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The relevant authority for Moving Data Systems, d.o.o. is the Slovenian Information Commissioner (Informacijski pooblaščenec).
Data retention and sharing
We do not sell personal data. When analytics and advertising are live, the data collected by those services is handled under Google's (and, where applicable, Raptive's) own policies for the periods they specify. We will link those policies from this page when the services begin.
Children
BirthdayLab is a general-audience reference site and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions that apply that age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International data transfers
Hosting (Vercel) and the planned analytics and advertising services (Google) are provided by U.S.-based companies. Any processing of personal data they perform on our behalf is subject to their own published safeguards, including applicable Standard Contractual Clauses and adequacy mechanisms.
Changes to this policy
The most important moment for this page is when analytics and advertising go live. At that point the relevant "planned" / "will" sections will be rewritten in present tense to describe the live behaviour, and the "last reviewed" date below will be bumped in the same deploy. We may also make smaller revisions for clarity at any time.
